Repetition Is Essential For Effective Marketing.

I recently took a 16-hour road trip out East. As a marketer, I couldn't help but pay attention to the billboards and radio ads along the way. Here’s what I noticed: the same businesses were using the same messaging with little to no variation over and over, on repeat. And frankly, it made me mad; but not for the reason you might be thinking.

When it comes to traditional marketing like billboards, print ads and radio people accept repetition. But for some reason when digital marketing is repetitive, they get upset. Specifically on social media.

It's a common complaint: "You're posting the same thing too often!"

But here's the thing: repetition is the point.

Marketing is an exercise in repetition.

Let's face it: not everyone is going to see every single one of your social media posts. In fact, the vast majority won't. The only people who are likely to see all of your content are you, your marketer, and maybe your mom.

So, why worry about repeating yourself?

Repetition is key. It's how you drive home your message. It’s how you establish your brand identity. It's how you let people know who you are, what you do and how you are going to help solve their problem.

Your ideal client might miss your first nine posts, but the tenth one grabs their attention.

So, go ahead and repeat yourself. It's not annoying; it's effective.

Marketing isn't about preaching to the choir. It's about reaching the people who don't know you yet.

Many people think they know how to market their business on social media because they're active users. But personal social media use is not the same as marketing a business. And it definitely does not make you a marketing expert.

People don't buy your passion; they buy solutions to their problems. Effective marketing isn't about self-expression or random acts of marketing (RAM). It's about consistent action with one simple goal: to make it clear how you can solve their problem, and then make it easy for them to buy.

It might sound boring, but it works.

Sometimes people complain that my marketing is repetitive. I take pride in that. It means I’m doing my job right.

If you want to work with a marketer who learns all the latest TikTok dances, you’re in the wrong place.

If you want to work with a digital marketing expert who will strip down your messaging and get it in front of the right people so you can dominate your local area, grow your business and make more money, book a call.
